Singapore

I’m back!

Singapore was tons of fun. I miss the shopping sprees… the super cool countdown… the amazing Mega Sales everywhere… the large crowds… well I’ll just make this quick and post some of the pics I took there. They're rather random so bear with me. :)

We arrived at 12 midnight and my uncle picked us up at the station and took us for supper. We went to this mini coffee shop and my uncle ordered some noodles, told the lady which table to deliver the food, and he went off to order some drinks. Then when the lady came with the plate of noodles, she stared at the rest of us waiting at our table and she refused to hand the plate over to my aunt.

My aunt: We ordered that plate of noodle.
Lady: No no it wasn’t you. It was a man.
My aunt: Yeah I know. The noodle is for us.
Lady: But you didn’t order it! It was a man!
My aunt: That was my husband.
Lady: … Ohhh. Say earlier ma.

 Singaporeans can be kickass funny.

The name of the drink is Anything. And it could taste like anything.

My nails. Hee XD

Check this out. Do you see what I see?

Bugis Junction.

Even their public toilets publicize creativity.

After that, we went to Bugis Street. That place is like Petaling Street. It’s so bloody crowded you can barely walk. Imagine being crammed up against people with smelly armpits. Lol. But at least they’ve got a gigantic fan for ventilation.

Later that evening, we went to visit my other relatives in Jurong West. One of my aunts had just given birth to an adorable baby girl. Her name is Yap Yen Alexis .Unique?

My grandma and my other aunt had problems pronouncing her name because they’re Chinese educated..

Instead of pronouncing Alexis, my grandma said Galaxy.
My aunt was funnier.

“What ah? Aleksi?”

The maid, Lily Beth was carrying the baby at that time and she laughed until tears of joy ran down her cheeks. Her name’s really funny too. When she first arrived in Singapore as a maid, my little cousins couldn’t pronounce her name correctly so instead of “Beth”, it became “Bird”. Then when I first met Lily Beth and I asked my cousins what the maid’s name was, they told me “Little Bird”. And I was like, “what kinda parents in the right mind would name their daughter Little Bird?” I told that to Lily Beth and she laughed like a hyena.

The next day, we went to Orchard Road and did some shopping at OG. Look. An array of Fila bags. Priced at $20 each.

That’s my little cousin Kelly. She’s hilarious. She brings that little Mickey Mouse t-shirt thingy everywhere… you know how some kids like to carry their blankets around? Well hers is that Mickey Mouse t-shirt.I just noticed it's shaped like a rocket.

Vivo City. See the 4 letter word in red?

(SALE… wad else?)

Vivo City is one of the biggest malls in Singapore, if I’m not mistaken. They transformed their rooftop into a really cool hangout place. It was so breezy up there.

My mom said the Christmas tree looked like a cake.

Guess what I found??? THIS!

So effing cuteee!!! Bought it right away for $10.by the way, I named it Cherie.

My cousin Calvin had the male plushie at home. Put them together and they look so sweet.

They even have a baby!

LOL.

Anyway the countdown there was awesome. The fireworks were so pretty.Everyone was so bloody happy that day. People were yelling and laughing and whistling all the way.

Another thing I like about Singaporeans is that they’re a crazy bunch of people. As we were driving past this tall building which I assumed was a hotel, the people in the hotel were throwing toilet paper out of their windows.

So pitiful. They couldn't make it down on time to join in the crowd below so to celebrate along with everyone else, they threw toilet paper as a sign of "throwing away the past and welcoming the new year" o.O

I really enjoyed my stay there. It was fun =] And now college reopens for me.

By the way, this will be the last time I blog here… from tomorrow onward, I won’t be a Xanga-ian any longer.

I’m moving on to BLOGSPOT! Haha. Time for a change.

I'm So Happy!

I don’t remember the last time being so happy. Yesterday I went to Pyramid and ice skated, shopped around and for lunch, my friends and I went to Sushi King where we ate this much:

There were 4 of us. The bill totaled up to RM100++ . Lolz.

But the food was nice lah. (DUH)

And today I went for my College orientation at Inti… oh it’s not ADP anymore. It’s called AUP (American University Program) . Same la. I hate to say this. But the place looks like a school. Like, my primary skool. Even my previous high school looked so much cooler. *sobs* And June was complaining about the toilets. She said they’re worse than our previous skool’s toilets. I was like WTH?

OK to be fair, Inti’s a really old college and they started off small – not big or anything – but the great thing is that we’re gonna shift to the new building in May, so things are gonna be a whole lot better! =)

I’m leaving for Singapore in an hour. I’m gonna be there til the 1st of Jan. Hopefully there’ll be loads of sales there… I’m dying to buy some new blouses and a new pair of sport shoes! Hee XD

Enjoy your holidays everyone!! =)

Christmas Blues

It’s not even Christmas Eve yet, but I always get enthusiastic over Christmas. It’s my favorite season of the year! Beautiful music, shiny decorations, tinkling bells, Christmas sales all over the city… it’s just a gorgeous season, don’t you think so? XD

My mom and my brother went to Carrefour yesterday and they returned with Christmas ornaments. Bulks of them. I was surprised because I didn’t remember the last time we set up our own Christmas tree. That was years ago, when I was only 12 or 13… and that was the last time we actually put up our fake mini Christmas tree and adorned it colorfully with lights and bells and all sorts of balls. Christmas balls. A Christmas tree will never be complete without Christmas balls.

Then we used to stack up our pressies beneath the tree and we’d follow the tradition to open them at midnight on Christmas Eve. I remember feeling excited everytime Christmas drew near because I just loved the whole atmosphere of celebrating Christmas, even if we didn’t have a big Christmas tree. The gentle music and Christmas lights were what I found very soothing.

A few years later, my family became really busy and so did I. We stopped the Christmas tradition due to our other priorities, and last year I was so busy in church that I didn’t manage to celebrate Christmas. So when my mom and my brother returned with bulks of Christmas stuff yesterday, I was blown away with what they told me. Carrefour is seriously having a MEGA SALE. A 6-foot Christmas tree only costs RM10 at Carrefour. And then all the ornaments there came in small packages which totaled up to RM4, RM8, RM12, etc. Obviously it depends on what you buy. But it’s so cheap. Who’s heard of a 6-foot Christmas tree costing RM10?? The original price was RM80. So worth it lor. That’s like, 90% discount?

I was just sitting on the sofa and staring at the Christmas tree for a really long time – lost in thought. And I was thinking how colorful the tree looked with the lights, and how much that Christmas tree actually resembled friendship.

The beautiful part of setting up a Christmas tree is when you get to choose the ornaments and where to hang them. That’s just like getting to know a person and becoming his/her friend, and having so much in common and enjoying each other’s company. It’s a slow but enjoyable phase. The more time you put in setting up the tree, the better it looks. Same goes with the more time you spend building the friendship, the stronger it becomes. When you’ve finally become best friends with that person, you feel really glad that you’ve gained such a great friend and you are grateful for every moment spent getting to know him/her. That goes with stepping back to admire your Christmas tree, to see how gorgeous it has become.

Now, the hard part comes when Christmas is over and you need to dissemble the tree. All your hard work and effort put in to embellish the tree only lasted for a short period of time. It’s painful to see your once-gorgeous-tree now reduced to a plain spiky plant. I guess it’s really painful when you’ve worked really hard to establish a special friendship with someone, and only to have it ruined over a small matter. It happens all the time to various people. It has happened to me once.

Several years ago, I had a best friend and we’d known each other for 3 years. We’d sit beside each other in class and she was a really hardworking student, so everytime there was homework or a project that needed to be done, I’d call her up to ask for guidance. We had a lot in common, and although there were times that we didn’t see eye to eye, we still managed to tolerate each other. Then one day, I accidentally ‘neglected’ her when I went to sit with another girl and left her with a few of my classmates. She was really upset about it, thinking that I had chosen someone else over her, my best friend, but I did not see the big deal about why I couldn’t sit with anyone I wanted. (Lol I was really young at that time) So she stopped speaking to me, and I got tired of her stubborn attitude, so instead of voicing things out which I normally would, I kept quiet about it and both of us were giving each other the silent treatment for weeks. Months. When I realized that we’d formed  huge gap in our friendship, it was too late. She had found her own new bunch of friends to hang out with, and I had found mine. It was really hard to say sorry because the incident had happened a long time ago. We pretended like nothing happened, but it was undeniable that when we spoke, there was a strange distance between us. We were no longer the best friends we used to be. Our friendship had degraded to just “friends”, and that’s the way it’s been for the past several years until today.

At that moment, what I truly regretted the most was not making an effort to fix the relationship when I had the chance to. I took it for granted, thinking that it will be fixed just like the old times. I thought that a strong personal friendship built over 3 years would not crumble over a silly misunderstanding. But I never bothered to make myself clear. Neither did she. In the end, it was all too late for sorry’s. Even if I did apologize in the later stage, she was already comfortable in her new group of friends. If I had apologized the minute the problem begun, probably we’d still be really close today. I don’t know. But it’s sad seeing a cherished friendship being swept down the drain. Well, if that had not happened, I would not have been best friends with June and Vivi, the 2 sweetest besties I could ever have. Haha. There’s always a positive side to everything, but the process of healing was painful. I remember feeling terrible and super guilty when I realized it was too late to restore my friendship with her because things just wouldn’t be the same again.

If you are going through something like this, don’t make the same stupid mistake I did… by taking things for granted. Do your best to fix it. Once you’ve done your best, just leave it as it is because the rest of it is up to that person – not you. You’ve done your part. Well done. At least you’ll know you did all you could. And if things still remain the same, it just means the other person isn’t ready to get over it yet. But give that person time. Don’t give up on hoping that things will eventually turn out for the better. I believe that sadness flies away on the wings of time. Whatever you may be going through – whether you made the mistake or not – it’s okay. That’s what I learned. Everyone deserves a second chance to prove themselves. If you don’t receive that chance although you know you should, don’t be discouraged. Better moments are yet to come. Just you wait and see! And keep an open mind for it too. =)

And cheer up. It’s
CHRISTMAS  !!!

Drop your sacks of sorrows and just go and have a FEEL GOOD time. =)

Specially for my ‘twin’. U know who u are. Better moments are sure to come! =)

Sick

I’ve been away at Youth Camp. This year’s camp was great. The pastors were amazing. The participants were funny. I had a good time. It was freezing cold up there, but it’s like a tradition that every night, the grounds of Peacehaven must be explored. Oh and some of my friends told some really lame jokes.

THE HAPPY JOKE

O: What is Happy’s surname?
A: Happy Lee (happily)

Q: What is Happy’s occupation?
A: Happy Nurse (happiness)

Q: Who is Happy’s girlfriend?
A: Happy does not have a girlfriend.
Q: Why?
A: Because Happy is gay (happy = gay)

 THE AMERICAN JOKE

Some said that the name ‘America” came from a Cantonese guy from Hong Kong. It all started wayyy back when Christopher Columbus was sailing the seas and there was a Hong Kong guy with him on the ship. As they were nearing America, the Hong Kong guy pointed out and asked Christopher: Ah mei lei gah? (means What is that? in Cantonese)

So lame lor. Lol. The bus ride back from Genting gave me a bad headache. This morning, I woke up with a fever. Sigh. Being sick has its advantages and disadvantages.

Disadvantages:
-You feel like shit
-Your head feels like it’s going to explode

Advantages:
- You are excused from doing the house chores
- Everyone else goes a little more lenient on you
